The first edition in 2019 until now, outstanding artists have been invited to the Festival such as David Russell, Manuel Barrueco, Ana Vidovic, Marcin Dylla, Zoran Dukic, Rafael Aguirre, Àlex Garrobé or Ricardo Gallén. This year, for the VI Edition, the guitarists who will visit the different Festival’s venues are David Russell, Aniello Desiderio, Isabel Dobarro, Anabel Montesinos, Miguel Trápaga and Yhael May. In addition, the programme includes the performance of 5 young talents who are the present and the future of the instrument: Junhong Kuang, Álvaro Toscano, Mateo Camisassa, Yun Duan and Erika Takada.

All these concerts will be held in different iconic venues of the city and other cultural centres such as Auditorio Nacional, Ateneo de Madrid, Centro Cultural Antonio Machado (Distrito San Blas-Canillejas) or Centro Cultural Federico García Lorca (Rivas Vaciamadrid).

Guitar and piano come together on this occasion with the help of two of the most internationally renowned performers of the moment. Winners of different international guitar competitions, the guitarists who will perform at this concert are already the present and the future of the instrument. Our intention is to serve as a platform to promote the artistic careers of these young talents. Álvaro Toscano, winner of the La Herradura Competition, and Mateo Camisassa, winner of the José Tomás Villa de Petrer Competition, will be in charge of offering this concert.

With an outstanding career as a guitarist, singer and teacher, Yhael May has participated in renowned stages both nationally and internationally. She has been awarded in multiple guitar competitions and has performed on television shows alongside renowned artists. Her debut album “NIEBLA”, released in 2023, features original compositions by her father, Jesús Martínez Torres, in a moving tribute to her family legacy. In addition to her artistic activity, Yhael May is director of the “Dayha Music / Arts” Academy and a member of the Latin Grammys. Yhael May’s “SUNFLOWER TOUR” offers a unique musical experience by combining traditional and original classical guitar music with the singing of her own compositions and boleros.

Anabel Montesinos is the youngest guitarist to have won the prestigious Francisco Tárrega International Competition in Benicassim and has become without a doubt one of the most important figures of the instrument internationally. David Russell is a renowned classical guitarist world-renowned for his great musicality and great artistic gifts, having earned recognition from both critics and audiences. In recognition of his talent and international career, he was made a member of the Royal Academy of Music in London in 1997. He won a Latin Grammy in 2005 for best solo instrumentalist for “Aire Latino”.
